Around the Garden

For two Saturdays in a row, Handyman had been going to the nursery hauling plants to be planted in our garden. One day last week, he came home early from the office and when I asked why, he answered me, “I’m going to plant today. Show me your plan.” Immediately, I sketched to him my very simple plan of planting around the mango tree. I got the idea from Pinterest. Nerio, our office caretaker, had previously prepared the space, digging a semi-circle around the mango tree, adding in soil and sprinkling it with fertilizer. I told my husband to layer the plants according to height, variety, and color.

We’re improving our garden one step at a time. In 2011, we hired Bulacan Gardens Corp. to landscape our garden and we paid a huge amount of money for the project. Well, the beauty of landscaping doesn’t really last long, especially if it’s not tended closely. Then came our renovations which affected part of the patio and garden. So, in the end, our garden looked miserable and the money spent for landscaping went to waste. But we’re slowly working to spruce up our garden to make it more appealing.

Here’s Handyman digging up the earth…

…and planting.

After planting, he cut two huge branches of the mango tree which were overhanging.

Some improvements around the garden:

Around the Garden

A couple of these hanging plants with tiny dark pink flowers. I think I need to put them in a more attractive basket? They look naked in that net.

I thought these potted splendrens plants could be planted around the garden. I didn’t know that they’re like bromeliads which are very sensitive against the elements.

I like this ivy sitting on the marble table. It’s beautiful in its simplicity.

And my “ancient” already-yellowing water lilies sitting in the mossy bird bath. Handyman promised to buy new ones.

And here’s a hibiscus flower for you. You don’t get more “tropical” than this flower icon :).

This pink hibiscus has really huge petals and blooms all year round.

I might be linking up with these lovely blogs.
